Bucks Womens and Girls Cricket 2010

2010 is very exciting year for Womens and Girls Cricket in Buckinghamshire. After sustained growth over the past 10 years, 2010 will be the first year we have been able to field 3 County Age Group teams and a Womens team all entered in to the ECB leagues.

The organised cricket taking place this year is:

Women
• Womens 1st XI playing home and away matches against Wiltshire, Dorset and Gloucester in Division 5 South and West of Womens Championship
• Womens 1st XI in national 20/20 competition
• 2 Clubs participating in Bucks Womens League
• Up to 3 other teams with a fixture list of friendlies and tournaments.

County Age Groups
• U13, U15 and U17 County age Group teams playing in ECB Leagues as well as touring and tournaments.

District Cricket
• 4 Bucks regional teams playing in BCB summer leagues giving regular weekly cricket to many players.
• A tournament between the 4 District squads

Club and Schools
• Indoor Lady Taverners competition for schools at U13 and U15
• Outdoor Lady Taverners competition for clubs at U13 and U15
• Kwik Cricket tournaments for Y5 and Y6 girls
• Many clubs including girls in their teams plus some clubs entering mixed teams in BCB leagues

We are all greatly indebted to the many volunteers, helpers and organisers who together with the continued support of Bucks Cricket Board have helped steadily to raise the profile of Womens and Girls Cricket in Bucks. A special mention must got to Tina Turner who has lead, cajoled, recruited volunteers and been a constant source of enthusiasm and energy in moving Womens and Girls Cricket forward over the past 15 years.
