Cara Duggan awarded Brian Johnston Memorial scholarship

Cara Duggan, who opens the bowling for Buckinghamshire Girls U15s, U17s and Women's teams, has been awarded a £600 scholarship from the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust, to help with the expenses involved in playing and training across the different teams.

Brian Johnston's 47 years of broadcasting, his passion for England and its great national sport of cricket, along brought him into the hearts and minds of millions of people worldwide. As a memorial his family, together with many eminent members of the cricketing and broadcasting world, set up a trust fund to further the causes that were close to Brian's heart. The BJMT provides scholarships to young male and female cricketers at county level who are in genuine financial need.

Cara plays her club cricket at Holmer Green and was recently instrumental in the Bucks Girls U15s outstanding 4 wicket win away at Warwickshire at the end of May, with 1/22 off 8 overs and 26* to see the team home.

Bucks Cricket's Head Coach, Rich Hudson said of the award, "Cara is a worthy recipient, she brings a great mix of a real commitment to her cricket and being the best she can be, whilst retaining a sense of fun and enjoying the game. We hope the scholarship will make things a little easier for the huge commitment the whole family has to make for an emerging County cricketer."
